One of our favourite local performers to host on stage is the incredible Krystle Dos Santos. Her voice is so powerful we’ve been moved to tears and she’s generally one of the nicest humans on the planet. We’re looking forward to her show with the newly minted Saint and the Full 100 Band and thought it’d be nice to check in with her. The last show she played was in July and the fantastic Melisizwe Brothers joined her on stage. We caught up with Dos Santos briefly before her upcoming show to see what she’s been up to and why you might be hearing her voice in a cartoon in the near future!

NVT: First, I want to throwback to your last show here in July when the Melisizwe Brothers joined you on stage for part of your set. That was incredible. What was it like sharing the stage with them?

KDS: Oh man, those guys are so incredible! I couldn’t believe how professional, yet completely normal and down to earth they were. Their dad was so cool and thats exactly why they had such balance! Their stage presence is so phenomenal- they’ll definitely be superstars in a few years – I heard Stevie Wonder wanted to help with their development!! I hope I can share the stage again with them before they blow up!!

NVT: So you’ve played some extremely successful shows here and around the area in the past year, I noticed you got married as well… what does the year ahead look like for you?

KDS: Yes, this year has been my best ever in the entertainment world – I’ve been doing some commercials and tv/film acting in Vancouver as well, so next year will be lots of training and hopefully as a result, more work 🙂 I’m started to take some voice over classes, so fingers crossed you’ll hear me on a cartoon in the next year or 2. I’m also writing a bunch of new music, so I’ll be hitting the studio sometime next year as well.  I probably won’t have another wedding though, one was enough for a lifetime, lol!

NVT: Your show is on Friday the 13th! Spooky! Do you have any superstitions or rituals before you hit the stage or in general?

KDS: Lol, I actually didn’t even realize that!! I don’t really have any superstitions, I kinda wish I did, I think they would make me more disciplined! But I always have to do a solid vocal warm up before a show, which sounds like im a goul or a crazy person! Ooohhh!

NVT: If you could play a show with any musician living or dead, who would it be and why?

KDS: I’d love to get on stage with the late great Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston – probably just to watch and take it in, more than actually singing. I’d die to get on stage with stevie wonder again or maybe play with the Roots and Jill Scott….I could go on forever.

NVT: Anything else you’d like to add to this?

KDS: So happy to be playing at The Needle again! Edmonton has the most amazing crowds and people – i feel so lucky to come home and play here as often as I do!!

Join Krystle and Saint & the Full 100 Band Friday the 13th for a night of amazing soul, dancing and good vibes!
