Saskatoon’s The Pistolwhips are coming to the Needle Saturday, March 4th to perform with Jesse and the Dandelions and Rebecca Lappa. You may have also recently noticed them on Jimmy Fallon where a member of the band was featuring in his “Thank You Note” segment. The band has since been pushing to be on the show since only one member was aired on TV.

We caught up with Rylan and Paul of the Pistolwhips to switch gears for a moment to talk about their jam space. Where does the magic happen?

How did you find your jam space?

Rylan – We knew it was a place that held shows. We’ve played there before and it had a great vibe. We decided to check it out, made a call, and managed to work out a deal to have it be our full time rehearsal space.

Why is it perfect for The Pistolwhips?

Paul – It’s perfect practice for touring because it’s an actual venue. We load in every night, get the stage mix, and set up as if it were a full show. This makes for a great transition from rehearsal to performance, rather than going from a small room where the acoustics are drastically different from a performance venue.
Rylan – Plus it’s a seniors centre by day, so sometimes we get to chat with some pretty amazing people after their classes that take place before we start blowing the roof of the place!
Paul – The truth is, it’s right around the corner from the best pizza place in town!! That’s really the ultimate priority HAHA!!

This amazing show is just $5 at the door. Music starts around 8pm!
